Signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge
CARDINGTON – Growing up on our family’s farm, I learned the value of hard work. In America’s free enterprise system we are rewarded for that hard work and for creating value for others. Unfortunately, too many politicians today think that our income is whatever they allow us to keep.
That’s why I signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. It is my pledge to you–the taxpayer of the State of Ohio–that I will oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes.
I was proud to sign the pledge at Kalmbach Feeds, Inc. in Upper Sandusky, a third-generation family business run by my friend Paul Kalmbach. They employ over 250 people and are one of the leading agribusinesses in our part of Ohio. Keeping taxes low allows them to create more jobs, keep investing and growing in our state, and to give more opportunities for families to succeed.
Like Paul, I understand that more taxation and more government reduces prosperity, diminishes freedom, and hurts all Ohio families. We cannot continue to trust politicians whose answers always seem to be taking money out of our pockets to line the pockets of government.
That is why I will not vote to increase taxes and will oppose and any all attempts to do so. I believe we must work toward eliminating Ohio’s income tax in favor of a revenue system that is more fair and simple, and that doesn’t punish success and entrepreneurship.
Ohio families and businesses deserve conservative leadership that they can trust to be on their side. I’ve been a conservative all my life, and today I’m putting in writing my pledge to you not to raise your taxes.
Together, we will make our part of the state the best place to live, work, raise a family, start a business, and live the American Dream–right here in Ohio!
